A filing instrument of a type in which a binding member (2) is fixed to an instrument body (1) so that it cannot be separated from the instrument body (1) without causing plastic deformation, breakage or the like of the elements of the instrument. The binding member (2) is anchored to the instrument body (1) through a joining mechanism (3), which serves to join the instrument body (1) and the binding member (2) to each other and enables separating of the binding member (2) from the instrument body (1) by causing relative movement of the instrument body (1) and the binding member (2), and through a latching mechanism (4) which suppresses relative movement of the instrument body (1) and the binding member (2).
