Hot and cold water supplies are piped (11) through a hole in the washstand which also passes the wire (22) from a mains plug (3) via a plug-and-socket connection (221,311) to a simulator (2) fitted into the compartment (162) normally housing the Li battery for the electronic controller (141) of the infra-red detector of hands in close proximity to the water outlet (12) from the valve (15).
