<p>PURPOSE:To provide a DC electric furnace in the operation of which preheated metal material is fed to the middle inside the furnace body simultaneously with preheating of the metal material by exhaust gas at an increased efficiency so that the efficiency of electric energy to melt metal material can be increased. CONSTITUTION:In the middle inside a furnace body 1 an upper carbon electrode 3 is placed, designed to be lowered and lifted through a through hole 6 formed at a point in a preheating tower 5 which is provided above a furnace lid 4 and has a part leaning. The lower end of the preheating tower 5 is positioned in the middle of the furnace body 1. The preheating tower 5 has a charging hole inside through which metal material 7 is fed and an exhaust-gas duct 10 by which the exhaust gas is conveyed to dust-collecting equipment.</p> |
