摘要 PURPOSE:To realize a high output waveguide-type light amplifying device by a method wherein at least 2 types of exciting lights having different wavelengths are made to enter the waveguide-type light amplifying device to increase an exciting light energy. CONSTITUTION:A light amplification system has at least two external excitating light sources 1 and 2 which emits exciting lights having different wavelengths (lambda1 and lambda2), an optical coupler 3 which mixes the lights having different wavelengths (lambda1 and lambda2) and a waveguide-type light amplifying device 5 to which the external exciting lights are inputted from the optical coupler 3. If two or more types of the exciting lights having the different wavelengths (lambda1 and lambda2) are simultaneously made to enter the waveguide-type light amplifying device 5 which absorbs the external exciting lights and amplifies the lights by utilizing fluorescence in a required wavelength range, a light energy approximately twice the energy of the single wavelength excitation is supplied to the amplifying device 5. Therefore, by making two or more types of exciting lights having different wavelengths enter the amplifying device simultaneously, the exciting light energy is multiplied, so that the high output waveguide- type light amplifying device can be realized.
