Process and appts. for selective filling of intrusion moulding

In a process for selectively filling intrusion moulds with plastic melt, esp. recycled plastics: (a) melt (6) from an extruder (5) is fed to a melt manifold (1) with an inlet (7) and two or more outlets (8, 9, 10); and (b) a valve (3) in the manifold is set to allow flow via channel (15) from the inlet (7) to only one outlet (8, 9, 10) leading to an intrusion mould (11). Homogenisation of the melt is initiated in the flow channel (15) which is narrower than the melt inlet (7) and continues during passage into the outlets (8, 9, 10) which are wider than the flow channel. Further homogenisation occurs in a restrictor (13) in each melt outlet (8, 9, 10). Also claimed is the process equipment which comprises an extruder (5) with a melt manifold (1) having a rotary valve (3) to distribute melt to a desired mould (11).
