Deposits in the drainage system of a structure are prevented by addn. of a conditioning agent. A stabiliser for hardening components and a dispersant are added as conditioner. The additive to ground or waste water is an inorganic condensed phosphate, a (poly)phosphoric acid ester, an aminophosphate, an aminomethylenephosphonic acid, a phosphonate contg. N, esp. aminoalkylene phosphonic acids, phosphonocarboxylic acids, succinic acid amides, polysaccharides, gluconates, polyglycosides, polyglucosides and derivs., polyhydroxycarboxylic acids and copolymers, proteins, esp. polyaspartic acid, or silicates. Or it is a tannin deriv., a lignin sulphonate, a sulphonated condensate from naphthalene and HCHO, a poly(meth)acrylate, polyacrylamide, a copolymer of (meth)acrylic acid and acrylamide, (co)polymers of acrylic acid and acrylamide contg. phosphinic acid, oligomeric phosphino-succinic acid cpds., sulpho(m)ethylated polyacrylamide and co- or ter-polymers with acrylic acid and maleic acid esters, N-butylacrylamide and copolymers, acrylaminopropionic-sulphonic acid and copolymers, maleic anhydride (co)polymers, phosphinoalkylated acrylamide polymers and copolymers with acrylic acid, citric acid, ether carboxylates or oxidised carbohydrates. Mixts. of conditioners may be used. The conditioner is added, in aq. soln., in amt. of 0.5-50 g/cubis m of water or ground water, to the drainage system. Esp., a mixt. of phosphonocarboxylic acids and polycarboxylic acid is added as an aq. soln. of water-sol. salts, opt. with other additives.
