In a height adjustment mechanism for the punch of a stamping machine, the punch holder (F) comprises an external thread which can be adjusted by means of a spring guide sleeve (R) with an internal thread. A hexagonal guide (H) engages a hexagonal recess in the spring guide sleeve, under spring tension (P), securing it to prevent twisting. The punch holder can be adjusted in height in 60 deg steps only from above (Q) over the whole punch regrinding length.
