PURPOSE:To provide the musical sound signal generation device which guarantees the precision of a fundamental waveform although the constitution is simple and the cost is low, and can generate a musical sound whose constant sound quality is guaranteed. CONSTITUTION:For example, cyclic waveform selection data and data required for the generation of a periodic waveform such as a periodic waveform parameter which are stored in a game cartridge 3 are read out by a CPU 11 which is connected to the game cartridge 2 and supplied to a sound source LSI 12 connected to the CPU 11. The sound source LSI 12 generates a periodic waveform through arithmetic based upon specific algorithm on the basis of the supplied data and stores it in a specific area of a RAM 13 connected to the sound source LSI 12. Then a controller 2 starts the game and when a musical sound is generated as the game proceeds, the sound source LSI 12 reads the periodic waveform out of the RAM 13 according to the musical sound to be generated, generates a musical sound signal on the basis of the periodic waveform, and outputs it as the sound through a speaker 5. |
