PURPOSE:To provide an efficient air conditioner wherein the output voltage- frequency characteristic of its inverter can be held in a predetermined one even when the load of its air compressor changes CONSTITUTION:By an AC current sensor 23, the motor current value of a compressor 1 is sensed, and by an AC current-voltage converter 24, the motor current value is converted into the internal voltage drop quantity of a DC power supply which is configured out of a AC-DC converter 16. By a voltage computer 25, the output DC voltage value of the DC power supply is computed, based on the voltage drop quantity. Based on the output DC voltage value, one of a plurality of waveshape patterns memorized previously in a waveshape memory 27 is selected by the voltage computer 25, and it is indicated to a waveshape generator 26. Based on the waveshape pattern, the waveshape signal for driving an inverter 19 is generated by the waveshape generator 26. The waveshape pattern is changed responding to the DC power supply voltage, and thereby, even when the load of the compressor 1 changes, the inverter 19 is driven efficiently while its output voltage-frequency characteristic is held in a predetermined one. |
