Method of producing signs, esp. number plates for vehicles

The symbols (4) are stamped into the blank (1) vehicle number-plate (2) the surface of which has a basic paint or lamination. The number-plate is then painted with the required colour (5) for the background surface, either by being rolled or by foil heat application. Finally, the stamped symbols, which are not coloured in, are embossed in relief so as to stand out from the background surface.
