<p>A device creating a permanent magnetic field, comprising a non-magnetic metallic body, for example chromium plated brass, consisting of three parts (1, 2, 3) which are screwed together. The ends (4, 5) are provided with threads or with rubber couplings. Inside, the device contains a magnetic assembly (12) which creates a magnetic field of about 10,000 gauss. The magnetic assembly (12) comprises two interrupted magnetic plates (14a, 14b) which are made preferably of a samarium-cobalt alloy and are retained, together with two bars forming a galvanized gap, by a capsule or cage consisting of a non-magnetic material which also serves as a spacer (15). If instead of magnetic plates of 10,000 gauss, we employ magnetic plates of 12,500 gauss, we obtain a magnetic field of about 14,600 gauss, extending along the whole length of the device. In such a case the magnetic plates have multiple interruptions in which the gaps of magnetized iron are placed.</p> |
