A method of producing a pack (10)(50)(70) of smoking articles comprises: forming a pack (10)(50)(70) from a laminar blank, wherein the pack comprises a box portion (14) comprising a bottom wall and having an opening, and a lid portion (12)(52)(72) having a top wall (22)(60)(78) which covers the opening in the box portion (14) when the lid portion (12)(52)(72) is closed; cutting the lid portion (12)(52)(72) of the pack to form first (28)(54)(75) and second (30)(56)(76) separable hinged portions connected to the box portion (14) along first (25)(83) and second (83) hinge lines, respectively, wherein each hinge line (25)(83) extends along a side wall of the pack (10)(50)(70); and filling the pack (10)(50)(70) with one or more layers of smoking articles, each layer being substantially parallel to the opening.
