PURPOSE:To realize high density recording by adding a phthalocyanine compound of specified composition to a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The optical recording medium comprises a recording layer formed on a substrate directly or through an underlying layer, and a protective layer formed thereon as required. the recording layer contains at least one kind of compound shown by formula I. In the formula, M represents a metal atom which may have two hydrogen, oxygen or halogen atoms or a metal atom which may have a -(OR<25>)P group or a -(OSiR<26>R<27>R<28>)q group, R<25>-R<28> represent independently a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic group, p and q represent integers of O-2, and X<1>-X<4> and R<1>-R<4> represent independently a carbon atom linked or not linked with a normal or branch alkylene group of 1-4C. |
