Optical waveguide splicing and supply arrangement

The arrangement is for splicing and supplying optical waveguides (25,26). It includes an insert (5) which can be withdrawn from a telecommunication device. The insert (5) has spaces for receiving at least one standard splice cassette (19) and supply lengths of waveguides to be spliced. The insert (5) is formed as a rectangular, large surface area plate (6) with a wall (7) attached to one side. The wall (7) lies in the plane of the front of the device frame when the drawer (5) is inserted in the frame (1). A receptacle (9) is attached to the plate (6) for holding cables (10) with waveguides (25,26) coming out of the frame (1) into the insert (5). Two guides (17,18) are attached to the plate (6). These are arc shaped and act a bearing surfaces for the waveguides. The guides (17,18) are bent away from each other and a space for receiving the splice cassette (19) is provided between them. The first guide (17) is semicircular and the second is bigger than a semicircle. Guide curves (20-23) for the waveguides are formed between the second guide (18) and the splice cassette space. These ensure a kink free guiding of the of the waveguides along the supply length and an accurate positioning relative to the positioned slice cassette (19).
