PULSE OXIMETRY SENSOR

An oximetry sensor (10) constructed including first and second opposed shell members (11, 12) for engaging the opposite sides of a patient's finger. A pair of LED's (43, 44) is releasably connected to the first member (11) for projecting light through the finger and a light detector (45) is mounted on the other member (12) for detecting unabsorbed light transmitted through the finger. One of the shell members (11) is mounted for sliding movement on the other (12) for engaging the opposite sides of the patient's finger and a coupler (14) retains the shell members (11, 12) in position. In a first embodiment, the LED's (43, 44) are directly releasably coupled to the first member (11) and in a second embodiment a fiber optic cable releasably couples the LED's (43, 44) to the first member (11).
