A liquid esp. water filter consists of a housing with inlet and outlets, a filter chamber and a filter insert. The novelty is that the filter insert (5) extends into the passage between the inlet and outlet (2,3). The filter insert is of tubular or cartridge shape and rests flush against the top (6) of the housing inner face.
