PURPOSE:To provide a chargeable battery and a charging system for the battery which can carry out maintenance of the battery, e.g. periodically measuring the capacity of the battery, refreshing the battery, etc., based on the data stored in the inside of the battery when the battery is connected with a charging apparatus or an appliance used. CONSTITUTION:When a chargeable battery 1 is connected with an appliance 3, the stored content of the EEPROM 2 built in the inside of the chargeable battery is read and rewritten by a microcomputer 4 built in the inside of the appliance. Meanwhile, when the chargeable battery 1 is connected with a charging apparatus, the information such as the times of charging and discharging, etc., stored in the EEPROM 2 is sent and received between the battery and the charging apparatus and if necessary, capacity measurement and charging are carried out. |
