PURPOSE:To provide a method for efficiently and continuously producing an aromatic carbonic acid ester according to the transesterification by continuously feeding dimethyl carbonate and an aromatic hydroxy compound into a multistage distillation column. CONSTITUTION:This method for producing an aromatic carbonic acid ester is to preheat an aromatic hydroxy compound expressed by the formula R<1>OH (R<1> is a substitutable aromatic group) with a preheater 2, pass the preheated compound through a feed pipe 3, continuously feed the compound into a multistage distillation column 4, simultaneously preheat a solvent forming an azeotropic mixture with methanol and dimethyl carbonate with a preheater 6, continuously feed the resultant solvent and dimethyl carbonate through a feed pipe 7 into the multistage distillation column 4, carry out the reaction in the presence of a transesterification catalyst, take out a high-boiling reactional solution containing the produced aromatic carbonic acid ester expressed by the formula (R<1>O)CO(OR<2>) (R<2> is methyl or R<1>) from the column bottom through a conduit 8, continuously take out the reactional solution through a conduit 11, on the other hand, take out a low-boiling component containing the azeotropic mixture of the methanol formed as a by-product with the solvent forming the azeotropic mixture with the methanol in a gaseous state from the column top, cool and condense the low-boiling component with a condenser 13 and then continuously take out the condensed component through a conduit 14 and a takeout conduit 15. |
