The invention has as objet a signalling device in the case of the non-employing of the safety belt, formed of an infrared light flux source (SI), placed on the safety belt and of an electronic photocommanded switch (H), placed on the wheel or on the dashboard of the vehicle. The goal of the switch (H) is to supply a visual warning device (F) and an accoustic alarm (E), placed on the dashboard, and also to determine the feeding of the breakdown lights (L1, L2, L3, L4). In the case when it does not receive the infrared light flux from the infrared source (SI), which is fed by a contact (C) in the lock (IC) of the safety belt; (SI) generates an infrared light flux only as long as the safety belt is coupled in the lock and, therefore, the self locking key will keep the contact (C) closed.
