<p>(1) A lubricant oil compsn. comprising a polyalkylene glycol polycarbonate of formula (I): R1-OCOO-(((R2)1-O-)m-COO-)n-R1 (I) where each R1 = an HC gp., not more than C20, chosen from aliphatic, alicyclic, aromatic, aromatic-substd. aliphatic and alkoxyalkylene of formula (II): -(-(-R3-)p-O-)q-R4 where R3 = C2-10 alkylene; R4 = aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic gp. of not more than C20; p, q (integers) = 1-10; R2 = C2-20 alkylene; l, n (integers) = 1-100; m (integer) = 1-10. (2) A polyalkylene glycol polycarbonate of formula (III): (III) R11-OCOO-(-(R12O-)m-1-R12O-COO-)n-R11 where each R11 = C1-6 alkyl or alkoxylene (IV): -(-R13O-)q-R14 where R13 ethylene or propylene gp., R14 = C1-6 alkyl, q (integer) = 1-10; R12 = propylene, m (integer) = 2-10; n (integer) = 1-10 and 10-95 mol% molecular terminal gps. are occupied by (IV). (3) There are also independent claims for the prepn. of R41-OCOO-(-R42-OCOO)n-R41 (V), equiv. to (III) and both for the prepn. and use in a lubricant compsn. of (VI): R15-(-OCOO-R16).</p> |
