SLIDE MEMBER AND METHOD OF ITS PRODUCTION

A method of production of a slide member which comprises forming by ion plating a film mainly consisting of chronium and nitrogen in a thickness of at least 10 mu m on the surface of a foundation of a slide portion of a slide member obtained by adjusting the surface coarseness of cast iron or steel to 2 mu m to 8 mu m by blasting, and polishing the surface coarseness of the film to not greater than 0.8 mu m. The present invention relates also to the slide member obtained by this method. The present invention can provide a slide member having high durability and high industrial utility.
