PURPOSE:To provide an electromagnetic connecting device which is less in input gear loss torque at idling and does not cause time delay in connection and disconnection. CONSTITUTION:A protruded part 3b is provided at one side of a rotor 3 which transmits a rotational force to an output shaft 1. Also a recessed part 42a to stop the rotation of the rotor 3 by engaging with the protruded part 3b is provided on an exciting device 4 in which the rotor 3 is engaged and disengaged from a rotational drive member 2 by moving the output shaft 1 of the rotor 3 in axial direction. Then the protruded part 3b is disengaged from the recessed Part 42a immediately after the rotor 3 is engaged with the rotational drive member 2 so as to rotate the rotor 3 freely. In addition, the Protruded Part 3b is engaged with the recessed Part 42a immediately after the rotor 3 is disengaged from the rotational drive member 2 so as to stop the rotation of the rotor 3 by the exciting device 4.
