910,667. Tipping dustbins and other receptacles. REY, F. March 21, 1961 [May 18, 1960; May 19, 1960], No. 10177/61. Class 78 (4). At the end of a first pivotal movement about an axis 3, Fig. 2, on a container (not shown) which is guided by a cam 8 and a roller 9, a receptacle 5, moved by an actuator 1, abuts a hopper 19 which pivots with the receptacle about a second axis 4 until the receptacle is emptied into the container. As described, the actuator 1 may be a screw-jack or any equivalent device operated hydraulically, pneumatically, electrically or mechanically. As the hopper is raised, a lever 10, 13 is moved clear of a stop 12 and is spring-urged into engagement with a bar 14 on a carriage 2 to couple the receptacle and the hopper together. Simultaneously the roller 9 leaves the cam 8 and allows arms 16 of the carriage 2 to become detached from the pivot 3. The receptacle and hopper swing upwardly about the pivot 4 and during this movement a lid 20, Fig. 5, is raised by a spring-urged lever 31 which engages a tongue 27 on the lid. The lever 31 is pivoted at 29 to a member 22 which is itself swung about a pivot 21 by a lever 23 pivoted to the container at 24. A rubber screen 33 seals the hopper to the container whilst the receptacle is being emptied, and is held taut by a spring-loaded pulley 37. The abutting faces of the mechanism may be lined with rubber or like sound-deadening material.
|
