The scaffolding (1) has offset brackets (7) which support offset platforms (10). The offset platforms (10) are mounted so that they rotate around a horizontal axis (12, 15, 24) which is parallel to the scaffolding (1). Each platform rotates from a normal horizontal position, when it is close to the surface (2) of the building to a retracted, vertical position when it is further away from the surface of the building (2).The two ends (19) of each platform (10) rest on offset brackets (7) fixed in position by hooks. There are at least two hooks (13, 14) at each end of the platform. One is mounted so that it rotates around a horizontal axis (15) which is parallel to the longitudinal direction of the platform. The platform is rotated by turning it around the axes of two hooks (13) which remain in contact with the two brackets (7), while the other hooks (14) are separated from the corresponding brackets. Each platform has a stop (16) which holds the hook (13) in place, preventing it from sliding towards the edge of the bracket when the platform is rotated. The rotation of the platform is limited to 180 degrees, 90 degrees in either direction from the normal position.
