The invention relates to a method of transmitting digital information over a transmission channel such as a radio-broadcast channel. The principal data, e.g. music, are stored in a main channel and additional data relating to the principal data (such as the title of a piece, the composer, the performer) are stored in at least one auxiliary channel. The invention lies in the fact that the additional data transmitted over the auxiliary channels (e.g. music titles) are used for the selective recording of principal data (such as pieces of music) in a desired sequence.
