The imaging system consists of a radiation source (S) with a divergent beam controlled by a slot (F) in a diaphragm, and a detector module (1) for the beam after it has passed through the body (CO) being examined. The detector has derivation and conduction chambers filled with a gas to engender electrons, and incorporates a grille (13) for proportional multiplication of the electrons and cathode electrodes (C, 14). The second cathode electrode is designed to count the multiplied electrons through the corresponding ions for a number of beam directions. The multiplication grille and cathode electrodes lie in parallel planes, and the second cathode electrode is made from a number of conducting strips on an insulating support. The strips, which are of constant width, extend in a number of different directions and converge towards the emission point of the divergent beam. <IMAGE> |
