PURPOSE:To rapidly obtain a soil amendment from a waste wood chip by taking advantage of a useful component without causing deterioration of environment resulting from a stink and dirty water. CONSTITUTION:This production device for soil amendment is equipped with a smell component recovering means 1 for preheating a waste wood chip W stuck with excreta by using an exhaust gas of an afterburner 32 as a heat source and separating and recovering the smell component, a carbonizing furnace 2 for carbonizing the wood chip itself dried by the preheating and a pyroligneous acid recovering means 5 for separating pyroligneous acid by subjecting an exhaust evolved with carbonization by the carbonizing furnace to vapor-liquid separation by a condenser 31. An adding means 4 is installed, the smell component introduced through an evaporated gas feed pipe 13 is adsorbed on charcoal discharged from the carbonizing furnace after it is cooled. A pyroligneous acid sent through a pyroligneous acid feed pipe 46 is sprayed on charcoal in a grinder 42 and a pyroligneous acid component is added to the charcoal.
