Infinitely variable ratio transmission

The gear drive consists of an input drive shaft (1) which drives a shaft to rotate the centre gear wheel (5) of a planetary drive by a pair of gear wheels. A variable ratio drive (2) is driven by the same shaft, rotating the spider (6) carrying the planetary gears of the planetary drive.The ring gear (7) of the planetary drive passes the rotation onwards to the output drive shaft. Infinite variation of the drive speed down to exact standstill is possible according to the design of the individual parts of the gear drive.
