In a device for cleaning a waste gas contg. soot particles and flowing in a first direction (1), the gas enters the flow passages (5) of an agglomerator (3) which are inclined at an intersecting angle to the gas flow direction, so that the soot particles are enlarged by agglomeration before leaving. The outlets (7) of passages in a first length (9) of the agglomerator are closed.
