PURPOSE:To obtain a viscosity index improver which is excellent in viscosity index improvement, viscosity characteristics at low temperature and oxidation resistance. CONSTITUTION:This viscosity index improver comprises a copolymer containing ethylene, alkyl (meth)acrylate and/or (meth)acrylalkylamide and one or more structural units selected from a (meth)acrylate having a polyoxyalkylene group, N-vinyl pyrrolidone, 4-vinylpyridine, vinylimidazole, N,N-dimethyl-aminoethyl (meth)acrylate and morpholinoethyl (meth)acrylate, and a lubricant oil containing the same is prepared. |
