The starter motor rotor has a number of slots which allow isolated conductors to be passed to a rotating shaft and collector. The slot has an upper narrow gap (40) wide enough for the conductor to pass, widening out into a central wider slot area (14). The gap section is made up of a number of stacked laminated sheets (36). The sheets are made up of varying sizes, so as to round off (48,50) the edges of the slot section, smoothing the profile. |
