A string is described for stringing a tennis, badminton or squash racquet, the string consisting of a circular braiding. In a method for producing a string provided with a core, a triple thread is taken as the core material, the triple thread is braided with a 4- to 8-fold braiding to form a core braiding, the core braiding is further braided with an 8- to 16-fold braiding to form a circular braiding, and the circular braiding is then stretched.
