A solar battery charger includes a shell 20 moulded on a mobile telephone 40 to carry a set of batteries (2) (Fig. 1 - 1), a solar collector panel 10 fastened to the shell 20, and a charging controller (1) to charge the batteries (2) by the electric power obtained from the solar collector panel 10 when the power level of the batteries (2) drops below a predetermined level. An additional folding solar collector panel 50 may be provided, the panels 10, 50 being protected by a removable cover 30 when not in use. Alternatively, an openable cover (330) (Fig. 6 - 1), may have a solar collector panel on its outer surface. The batteries may be charged via an AC power input (21) when there is insufficient sunlight. The solar panels may have concave recesses (122) (Figs. 2 - 1, 2 - 2), for efficient collection of radiant energy. <IMAGE> |
