The vehicle is fitted with sensors to monitor the wheel-slip of the driving wheels as well as the engine torque and the vehicle dynamic conditions. The computer control selects a control program which most closely fits the torque-, slip and engine- conditions to modulate the torque and minimise wheelspin. The programs contain areas into which the engine torque cannot be reduced. The computer controls calls up other programs when the control reaches the blocked areas. The control monitors engine torque as well as the effective loading of the vehicle, and the road conditions.
