PURPOSE:To manage image data so that a moving picture can excellently be edited. CONSTITUTION:When a photograph where only a background appears is read out by a scanner 10, corresponding image data are stored in a read buffer 20. Then a photograph where a foreground such as a human body is added to the background is read out by the scanner 10 and its data are stored in the read buffer 20; and then image data on only the background are stored in a background data buffer 40. Then only the foreground part is read through the extraction processing of a foreground data extraction part 50 and left in the buffer 20, and stored in a foreground data storage part 70. After the data are stored, the background part and foreground part are combined to generate one frame of a moving picture. The correspondence between background data and foreground data is described in a structure table 80, so moving picture frames can easily be altered by referring to the structure table 80.
