Fuel supply process for IC engine with injection pump

The fuel supply process involves supplying fuel to the sealing space of the pump cylinder (47) of the injection pump when the valve (61) in the channel is closed. During the expansion stroke of the pump piston, a partial vacuum is created. The supply of air to the sealing space of the pump cylinder takes place after the supply of the fuel. The pump cylinder contains at least one aperture (41) for the supply of fuel, and at least one other aperture (40) for the supply of air. The edge of the piston skirt controls the air supply aperture, which is close to the edge position reached at BDC of the pump piston (43).
