The machine, especially a honing machine, has several working stations (W1 to Wn-2) in which workpieces can be worked or honed simultaneously. By transfer in timed sequence, each workpiece can pass in succession through all stations (W1 to Wn-2) so that it is worked gradually first of all to intermediate sizes and in the final working station to finished size. So that the working operations can be corrected, for example to re-adjust the tools for wear compensation, a common measuring station (Wn-1) is provided for all working stations (W1 to Wn-2), into which measuring station (Wn-1) the workpieces, after interruption of a work cycle, can be moved in succession in a measuring cycle.
