<p>An antimicrobial agent containing a solid solution oxide of the formula (1): [(M1<2><+>)y(M2<2><+>)1-y]1-xM<3><+>x-aO (1) wherein M1<2><+> is Zn<2><+> and/or Cu<2><+>, M2<2><+> is Mg<2><+> and/or Ca<2><+>, M<3><+> is at least one trivalent metal selected from Al<3><+>, Fe<3><+>, Co<3><+>, Cr<3><+>, In<3><+> and Bi<3><+>, 0.01</=x<0.5, 0<y</=1 and a is a constant arising from lattice defects and/or a hydrotalcite compound of the formula (2), [(M1<2><+>)y(M2<2><+>)1-y]1-xMx<3><+>(OH)2A<n->x/n.mH2O (2) wherein M1<2><+>, M2<2><+>, M<3><+> and x are as defined, A<n-> is an anion having a valence of n, 0<y<0.5 and 0</=m</=2 is substantially free of toxicity, excellent in heat resistance and weatherability, economical and excellent in dispersibility in resins, rubbers and fibers.</p> |
