PURPOSE: To sense appropriate charging timing by measuring the charged condition of each battery by a plurality of passive modules in which a microprocessor is built in, and measuring and controlling the charged condition to each battery by active modules connected to each other through a serial line. CONSTITUTION: A passive module inputs the signal of the voltage, the current, and the temperature of each battery in a microprocessor 10 through an A/D converter 1 at the prescribed intervals, calculates the charged condition of each battery, and indicates the result on an indicator 2. An active module receives the signal of the voltage, the current and the temperature from each passive module through a serial line at the prescribed intervals, inputs the signal to a microprocessor 20 through the A/D converter 1, calculates the residual capacity of the whole batteries, and indicates it on the indicator 2. The residual capacity of the whole batteries is correctly detected, the charging timing is appropriately sensed, and the service life of the battery is prolonged.
