[Also in Division G2] Apparatus for projecting changing displays of coloured illumination comprises a viewing surface f, one or more light sources a each of which as shown consists of an undiffused incandescent lamp mounted within a clear transparent enclosure having a plurality of distinct variegated areas but may consist of a cluster of differently coloured pea bulbs, a light deviating system of lenses I or mirrors capable of focusing and a motor arrangement for maintaining movement of the lenses l or mirrors relative to the light source whilst light passes from the source via more than one lens or mirror to the surface f, the arrangement being such that no focused image of any part of the source is formed on the surface f. As shown, turntables j driven by belt k are provided with lenses l. In a modification the cylindrical enclosure of source a may be rotated. In a further form one or more concave mirrors are provided which may reflect the light directly, or through a lens, to the surface f. Moreover, the mirror may be horizontal and contain water on which an ornament floats, or pictures, silhouettes, models or moving objects may be mounted between the light source and viewing surface.
