A machine for securing O-rings (32) to workpieces (26), either interiorly within a bore or exteriorly on a neck portion thereof, is described. The machine has first and second fixed stations while a movable carriage (20) is horizontally reciprocable between the first and second stations. The movable carriage (20) carries a workpiece engaging device and an O-ring engaging device, both of which reciprocate relative to said carriage while defining generally circular travel paths relative to the fixed stations in the course of the reciprocating motion of the movable carriage. In a first embodiment of the machine, an O-ring may be mounted onto the neck of a workpiece while, in a second embodiment, an O-ring may be inserted into the bore of a workpiece. |
