Process for reducing the amt. of organic components in suspensions of solids, esp. sewage sludges, comprises enriching the suspension with an oxygen-contg. gas, then carrying out wet oxidn. and then after the solid and gaseous components have been sepd. the liq. is supplied to a biological treatment stage after which is provided a filtration, pref. membrane sepn. step.
