Bistable switching magnet with piston position detector

The solenoid (1) has a piston (4) arranged opposite to an exciter coil (10) and shiftable between shift positions by using direct current passing through the coil. A piston position detector is formed by a permanent magnet (8) producing magnetic flux density in a magnetic circuit and a magnetic field sensor (11) arranged in the region of the circuit. The sensor and the magnet are fixedly secured with respect to the coil in the solenoid. The detector has an evaluation unit to evaluate the flux density in the circuit based on the shift position of the piston to detect the piston position. The magnetic field sensor is formed by a hall sensor, which is designed as a threshold switch or a linear hall sensor. The permanent magnet is a neodymium magnet. An independent claim is also included for a bistable switching valve to open or close a connection between volumes.
