The cabinet (10) incorporates a theft prevention system. The display cabinet (10) has at least one door (12, 14) closed by means of an access lock (28) and an alarm device (56). The inside of the cabinet (10) enclosed by the door(s) (12, 14) is illuminated by at least one light source (50). The access lock (28) is locked by a central cabinet lock (32). The central lock (32) activates the alarm device (56) at the same time as locking the access lock (28). The alarm device (56) can be switched to different alarm stages by a day/night switch (34) and provides a first and a second alarm signal. The alarm device (56) includes an alarm output (24, 48) which triggers the first and second alarm signals.
