PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of a tappet while maintaing its abrasion resistance to the cam etc., to realize the improvement of the output performance or the low fuel consumption of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A tappet is divided into at least two or more, part needing a severe slide characteristic, e.g. part facing a cam sliding part or a push rod abutting surface etc., is composed of iron system metal parts 12 and 14, and part other than the parts is composed of aluminum system metal 13. These parts are integrated by friction pressure contact, laser welding, or electron beam welding, etc., to be adopted as a composite tappet 10. As required, a hard metal part 18 as a sintered metal part or a ceramic part is joined to the end surface of the iron system metal part 12 compsing a tappet head. |
