<p>Fibre-forming synthetic linear polyamides of substantially equimolar proportions of a C4 or higher dicarboxylic acid and a diamine H2N(CH2)nNH2 where n is at least 2 are modi-fied by inclusion as reactants in the polymer-forming mixture of (a) pentaerythritol of an oligomer thereof, (b) benzene phosphinic acid, (c) aminoethyl piperazine and (d) epsilon-caprolactam to improve receptivity to acid dyes. The amounts of the modiffers, by weight of the polymer, may be (a) 0.5 to 10%, (b) 0.1 to 1%, (c) 0.1 to 2% and (d) 0.1 to 5%. Delustrants, anti-oxidants or plasticizers may also be incorporated in the polyamide. In the examples (a) is tripentaerythritol and the polyamide is nylon 66. Various diamines, diacids and amide-forming derivatives thereof are mentioned generally.</p> |
