The invention relates to a cutting blade and a method for sharpening a cutting blade which is intended to cut sheets of paper, for example, or similar material lying on top of one another. The cutting blade is provided with a cutting edge on an outer edge. As seen in cross section, the cutting blade is delimited on one side, at the level of the cutting edge, by at least one curved surface, the centre of curvature of which lies at a distance from the cutting blade, on that side of the cutting blade which is provided with the curved surface.
