PURPOSE:To provide a space- and energy-savable particulate filter composed of an inorganic fiber having a resistant or dielectric exothermicity charscteristic, and collecting a particulate to also combustion-eliminate it by the exothermicity of the inorganic fiber. CONSTITUTION:In a particulate filter 1, 2- or 3-dimensional fabrics or felt manufactured by an inorganic fiber are worked into a platelike, cylindrical, and honeycomb shape. The inorganic fiber is composed of an amorphous substance composed of Si, M, C, and O, and/or a solid solution of actually beta-SiC, C, MC, and beta-SiC and MC, and/or MC1-x and consists of a crystalline ultra-fine particulate having a particle diameter of 500 or less and an aggregate composed of amorphous SiO2 and MO2 (in a formula, M shows Ti or Zr and x is a number larger than 0 and less than 1), and a substance having a resistivity of 10<-2>-10<2>OMEGA.cm is used. For instance, the temperature of a particulate filter 1 is controlled by a resistant exothermicity temperature controller 3, and a particulate in exhaust gas is collected to burn and eliminate a collected particulate. |
