PURPOSE:To provide a subsidiary chamber for a high performance ceramics engine that is high in fracture toughness strength, excellent in heat-impact resistance, having a sufficient characteristic even in the aspect of thermal resistance or the like and fully tolerable to its sophistication. CONSTITUTION:This is an engine subsidiary chamber consisting of a ceramics compound material containing Y2O3 as a sintering assistant, after dispersing Al2O3 fine powder over a Si3N4 matrix. The ratio of arrangements should be set to as follows that Si3N4: 85 to 92wt.%, Al2O3: 3 to 7wt.%, Y2O3: 5 to 8wt.%. In this case, since Si3N4 matrix ceramics are strong material to heat resistance and wear resistance intrincically but the Al2O3 fine power is dispersed over it, whereby the extent of heat-impact resistance and thermal resistance are all remarkably enhanced up. Y2O3 densifies a sintered body. Owing to those of high thermal resistant, high heat-impact resistant and high strength ceramics compound materials, a high performance engine subsidiary chamber is manufactured. |
