A soap dispenser includes a soap reservoir (1), an outlet (3, 31) and a valve which controls the dispensing of soap through the outlet. A supply line connects the reservoir (1) to the outlet which is remote from the reservoir (1). A pump maintains soap under pressure in the supply line and the valve (4) is connected in series with the supply line. The valve (4) is normally closed and is opened for a period of time in response to the actuation of a switch by the user. A pressure sensor (7) may be connected in-line between the pump and the outlet. The sensor switches on the pump when the pressure in the soap supply line from the reservoir to the outlet falls below a predetermined threshold. The switch for actuation of the dispenser may be a non-contact sensor (5) and may be built into the body of the outlet (3, 31). |
